Leipzig : Weidmanns Erben und Reich Vol. 3(1) 40 390 pp. [87] [description based on Seba's illustrations of upper and lower sides of an unstated (probably one) number of female specimens, Seba, A. 1765. Description Exacte des Principales Curiositez Naturelles du Magnifique Cabinet d'Albert Seba Order: Locupletissimi Rerum Naturalium Thesauri Accurata Descriptio et Iconibus Artificiosissimis Expressio per Universam Physices Historiam. Amsterdam : H.C. Arksteum et H. Merkum et Petrum Schouten 4 pp. pl. 43 figs 1–2 (pl. 43, figs 1–2)].
Type data: holotype (probable) whereabouts unknown *; Goeze did not indicate the number of specimens used by Seba for his illustration.
Type locality: Maluku, Indonesia (Goeze gave no indication of a type locality), see Rothschild, L.W. 1895. A revision of the Papilios of the eastern hemisphere, exclusive of Africa. Novitates Zoologicae 2(3): 167–463 pl. 6 [293] (fixed the type locality as Moluccas, discussed Seba's figures and the status of Papilio fuscus Goeze, 1779).
