Introduction

Species of the family Lichomolgidae are either associates or parasites of many marine invertebrates. Hosts are generally molluscs, echinoderms and ascidians, but genera are usually specific to only one of these groups. Lichomolgidae comprises 25 genera and over 100 species. Lichomolgids are associates of various marine invertebrates, with a very large variety of hosts. No one host taxon is dominant (excerpt from Humes & Boxshall 1996: 194).
