Subfamily Westermanniinae

Introduction

The subfamily Westermanniinae was treated as a synonym of the Chloephorinae in Edwards (1996), but has been raised to separate subfamily status by Kitching & Rawlins (1998) with Holloway (2003) further defining the grouping on the basis of male genitalia characters. Zahiri (2013) confirmed the distinctiveness of this taxon within the Nolidae.
The Australian species are all placed in genera which are found elsewhere in SE Asia and Oceania.
