Extensive field collecting across northern Australia has so far failed to recollect S. atrorubens; most probably it was collected from the islands of the south-west Pacific and sent to Hess via Sydney; however, as the northern coast of Australia is within the latitudinal range of the species, thus its possible occurrence was not excluded)
