Introduction

Gastrocopta margaretae is a common a relatively widespread species in southern and western Australia. It is distinguished from other sympatric Gastrocopta spp. by the relatively slender lamellar barriers. Pokryszko (1996) gives a detailed account of the complicated synonymy of the species.

Western Victoria and coastal South Australia to coastal southern and western Western Australia; the Red Centre. An isolated record from northwestern Australia (KIng Leopold Range) and records from the Pilbara

Diagnosis

Shell very small, translucent drab white, pupiform, smooth; aperture quadrate to subquadrate with six to seven barriers: a prominent parieto-angular barrier, a horizontal to sinuously slanted columellar lamellae, lower and upper palatal lamellae with the lower deflected upward, and basal and infraparietal nodes; height to 3.0 mm.
