Introduction

The Australian species are mainly lacy-winged species with the cells between the dark veins glassy-hyaline. Some species are relatively common in forests of eastern Australia but there are probably undescribed species to be discovered. A comprehensive revision of the Australian fauna, describing the male genitalia, is needed to determine the identities of the described species, assess the validity of genera such as Parasalonia Muir and Busas Jacobi and describe the new species.

Misidentifications

Tropiduchidae: Pucina pellucida (Guérin-Méneville, 1829) [this species, originally described from "Bengal" was recorded by Guérin-Méneville 1838 from "New South Wales". Melichar (1898) stated that a specimen in NRS was from Australia. However, material of this kind originating in 19th Century voyages around the world are notorious for being mislabelled and until further material of the species is found in Australia, the record remains as unconfirmed. Diagnosis

Claval veins uniting basad of middle of clavus. Tegmina hyaline, veins usually dark fuscous, rarely green (Fennah 1978).
