  Type species:

   Ipoella davisi Evans, 1947 by original designation.

 

Introduction

Evans (1966) separated Ipolo from Ipoella, in which I. davisi had previously been placed, on the basis that the male genitalia structures were quite different from species of Ipoella. This is correct but I. davisi might easily be accepted as a species of Ipoides Evans on the basis of the male genitalia structures. The four genera Ipoides, Stenipo, Relipo and Ipolo need to be examined to assess their validity.

Diagnosis

The labium terminates between the middle coxae, the anteclypeus is anteriorly depressed and the lora do not extend as fara as the external margins of the maxillary plates. The crown of the head is longest against the eyes. In the tegmen there are three short veins between R and the costal border. The hind tibiae have one spur and numerous spines (Evans 1966).
