Diagnosis

Body elongate, to approximately 20 cm. Pedal disc up to 5 cm diameter. Column diameter up to 3 cm, narrowest region just above pedal disc. Margin distinct, well developed fosse. Burrows in soft sediments, in particular mud or sand flats of seagrass meadows. Tentacles numerous, in each intermesenterial space, no difference between endocoel or exocoel tentacles. Tentacles short, elongated to a triangle shape. Multiple tentacles per intermesenterial space; dense tentacles toward margin of oral disc, fewer closer to mouth where just two abreast. Innermost quarter of oral disc free from tentacles. One well-developed siphonoglyph. Endodermal circumscript marginal sphincter muscle; in cross-section with a main thin mesogleal branch with a few side branches. Four orders of mesenteries, all complete.
