Introduction

This species is only known from the type locality which, if taken exactly as given, would be 2–3 km offshore in Bass Strait. The species is named for its close similarity to A. tiegsi (China) and is the smallest species in the genus.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: xylem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

This species can be distinguished from other known species in the genus by its small body size and distinctly oval body form, vertex and pronotum without median carina, frons with indistinct median carina and the male genitalic structure. In external appearance, this species is similar to A. tiegsi (China), but differs from the latter in the smaller body; vertex without median carina, median longitudinal carina on pronotum completely obsolete, and the pygofer with the basal anal process directed posterodorsally, with inner edge covered with fine spines only on apical half (Liang & Wang 2012).
