Species Halone interspersa (T.P. Lucas, 1890)

Introduction

Edwards (1996: 281) noted that Halone interspersa (T.P. Lucas, 1890) was included in the Lithosiinae by Turner (1899, 1940) and Hampson (1900). Lucas' description appears to be of a lithosiine and Hampson illustrated it in 1900. T.P. Lucas did not usually label his types as such. A specimen in the SAMA was labelled subsequently as the type by H. Womersley but this specimen belongs in the Nolinae. Lucas' description is quite vague and could apply to many species. The name is included in the Lithosiinae in this Checklist. The lithosiine identified by Hampson and Turner as H. interspersa (T.P. Lucas) is otherwise without a name. The noline represented by the specimen in the SAMA is also otherwise without a name.
