Introduction

Evenhuis (2018) believed that Australian species placed into the genus Bombylius should be transferred to other genera after types have been examined, and considered them unplaced in the tribe Dischistini. Until this work is conducted we retain the species listed here in Bombylius, but note that while the genus continues to be placed in the tribe Bombyliini following Li & Yeates (2019) it probably does not occur in Australia (see Li & Yeates, 2019: Fig 3).
