Introduction

Reinstated as subfamily of the Gryllidae by Eades et al. (2015), the group consists of small to medium-sized slender crickets. There is a range of colour depending upon the habitats occupied. The majority of species are found on leaf surfaces after dark, but many occur on the ground in leaf litter. Singing and silent species are known. The family is characterised by the middle tarsal segments usually having an adhesive pad, head without dorsal bristles, scales absent, head not prognathous and tarsal claws not bifurcate.
