Sotheby 74 pp. [xli] [identity with respect to Seisura inquieta (Latham, 1802) and Rhipidura leucophrys (Latham, 1802) disputed: see Gray, Ann. Mag Nat. Hist. 1,11 (1843: 189-194), Sharpe, History Collections Natural History Departments British Museum (1906)135, Mathews, Supplement Birds Norfolk and Lord Howe Islands (1936: 46-47), Emu 41 (1942: 306), Emu 42 (1942: 63-64, 123-124, 191-192), and Serventy & Whittell, Emu 42 (1942: 59-63, 124-126, 254-256); although original description agrees more with the latter species, drawing no. 143 labelled 'Volatile Thr.' in Latham's handwritten catalogue in BMNH of drawings used for description in Latham's Supplementum Indicis Ornithologicis (1802) matches the former; as Turdus volitans Latham, 1802 has never been taken up as valid for either nominal species except by Mathews alone in only part of his lists between 1930 and 1946, existing useage is maintained under ICdZN Art. 82 pending application to the ICmZN for the suppression of Turdus volitans Latham].
