Genus Damias Boisduval, 1832

Introduction

Holloway (1984) suggested that the only synapomorphy for the genus Damias Boisduval, 1832 was the presence of white ground colour. Of Australian species referred to Damias Boisduval, 1832 only D. elegans Boisduval, 1832 should remain in this genus. The remaining species referred to Damias Boisduval, 1832 by Edwards (1996) are temporarily transferred to Chiriphe Walker, [1863] (as the only other available name) until further generic revision takes place.
