This species appears to be found mainly in the high country from Canberra to Tasmania.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Colour as in R. swani (Evans) but spots on vertex not extending medially and pronotum with either a few dark brown patches anteriorly or up to 2/3 of pronotum marked anteriorly with brown. Legs usually with only hind tibia marked with brown, sometimes also posterior surface of hind tibia and middle femur and tibia. Abdomen with tergites dark brown medially, extending more laterally in males; ovipositor usually brown basally, turning to yellowish scarlet distally, sometimes only brown laterally or entirely yellow to scarlet. Male genitalia with subgenital plates elongate, slightly expanded distally with dorsal marginal setae fairly short. Styles with apical process relatively long; preapical angle broad. Aedeagus with basal stem expanded distally with dorsoposterior neck short to moderately long; anterior processes from the dorsal margin often weakly developed. Length ♂ 6.2–6.9 mm, ♀ 7.4–8.2 mm (Webb 1983).
