Introduction

This species is only known from the type locality, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, although a specimen identified as this species in ASCU is from Scheyville in the Sydney Basin of New South Wales. A review of the species of Smicrocotis, based on examination of the male genitalia, is needed to confirm the validity of the three species currently recognised and confirm the extensive list of synonyms, particularly of S. obscura.
