Introduction

Gastrocopta mussoni is a relatively rare but widespread species distinguished from G. hedleyi by the parallel rather than convergent palatal barriers and from G. larapinta by the lack of a prominent interpalatal lamella.

Extra Distribution Information

Flinders Ranges, SA to the Red Centre; Northern Territory to the Kimberley and south to the Carnarvon area, WA. Elsewhere isolated records in eastern QLD.

Ecological Descriptors

Dry vine thickets, litter-dwelling.

 

Diagnosis

Shell tiny, translucent white, ovately pupiform, smooth; aperture ovate to subquadrate with four to seven barriers: a sinuous parieto-angular, an ascending columellar lamella, parallel upper and lower palatal lamellae, occasionally with weak basal, infraparietal and interpalatal denticles; height to 2.7 mm.
