Diagnosis

Carapace oblong-elongate, moderately compressed laterally; anterior end broadly rounded, posterior end posteroventrally rounded, subacute posterodorsally. Dorsal margin slightly convex to almost straight, ventral margin distinctly sinuous. Maximum height anteriorly, and equal to less than half length. Carapace smooth or ornamented. Inner lamella widest anteriorly and posteroventrally. Anterior vestibulum well developed, posteroventral vestibulum narrow, elongate, with free part of inner lamella occasionally showing areas of secondary fusion. Marginal pore canals few, typically branching (bi-, tri-, or polyfurcate). Hinge amphidont/archidont.
