Subspecies Biziura lobata menziesi Mathews, 1914

Eastern Musk Duck

  • Biziura lobata menziesi Mathews, G.M. 1914. Additions and corrections to my List of the Birds of Australia. Austral Avian Records 2(5): 83-107 [Date published 24 Sep 1914] [90].
    Type data:
Holotype AMNH 734136 (Holotype reported by Greenway (1973) as held in the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH 734136) however Greenway (1973) states that the type specimen was collected in Western Australia, while Mathews (1914) lists the type location as New South Wales. The current data record for AMNH 734136 lists the collection location as NSW, but lists the Collector's Number as "956" which appears to be in error as both Mathews (1914) and Greenway (1973) cite Mathews collection number as 756. Associated records in the AMNH (i.e. collected by Mathews) include 755, 757 and 759.), New South Wales.
