Adult: volant.

Larva: aquatic.

Extra Ecological Information

Major pest species, adult diurnally active and attacks humans readily in or close to forested areas, collected in houses, stables and in light traps; larva found in shaded temporary pools, flowing water in flooded areas, buffalo wallows, partly shaded woodland pools and shaded temporary puddles.
