Introduction

Nesopuparia is a monotypic genus of pupillid confined to Norfolk Island. The genus was originally introduced by Pilsbry (1926) as a section of the widespread Nesopupa which is represented on the Australian mainland by several species. However, the combination of ovately conical shape, prominent apertural barriers and sculpture of coarse sinuous axial ribs separate this genus from the mainland species of Nesopupa.

Diagnosis

Shell very small, sinistral, ovate conical, sculpture of fairly strong uneven axial ribs; aperture white, strongly reflected and thickened with about seven to eight barriers of varying size; umbilicus reduced to a narrow chink. Colour dark waxy brown to golden brown.
