Introduction
The generic and subgeneric placement of species of the Aedini tribe has been based on the phylogenetic classification of the tribe proposed by Reinert et al. 2000, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2009. This is available as a list of valid mosquito species on the online Mosquito Taxonomic Inventory Website (R. Harbach 2011). An online comparison to the traditional generic and sub-generic groupings (pre 2000) of this tribe is available at this location.
The generic and subgeneric placement of species in the tribe Aedini was updated in 2016, using the references Wilkerson et al. (2015), and the Mosquito Taxonomic Inventory list of valid species (http://mosquito-taxonomic-inventory.info/valid-species-list), updated July 2016.
