Species Varanus chlorostigma (Gray, 1831)

Mangrove Goanna

Introduction

Previously synonymised with V. indicus (Daudin, 1802) however following replacement of the neotype for Tupinambis indicus Daudin, 1802, that species is restricted to the Moluccan islands of Indonesia, with V. chlorostigma applied to the form present in eastern Indonesia, New Guinea and Australia.
