Adult taken in light and window traps; adults feed on humans, chickens, dogs, marsupials, cats, cattle, birds and other mammals; isolation of Kunjin and Sindbis viruses from collections; possible vector of Wuchereria bancrofti (bancroftian filariasis) larvae to infective stage; larval habitats are temporary or permanent clear water collections associated with vegetation and/or filamentous green algae; larvae found in transient pools, drains, backwaters, streams, ponds, puddles, potholes, ditches, ground pools, ponded streams and running freshwater creeks.
