Introduction
Octosporoblastic sporulation (eight sporoblasts), produce uninucleate spores.
Based on ribosomal DNA sequence data, the Microsporidia are recognised as Fungi and not Protists. At present Australian Biological Resource Study has retained the Microsporidia as a phylum in the Protists for historical comparative purposes.
