Comment: Since the Cuvier (1829) description does not provide any indication that more than one specimen was involved, and Badham (1976) reported MNHN 7489 as “the type” of Agama barbata, Shea (2001) selected Badham's listing as lectotype designation. The remaining specimens previously considered syntypes of A. barbata are desginated as types of S. discosomus by Shea (2001).Subsequent designation references:
