Family SPADELLIDAE Tokioka, 1965

Introduction

Tail segment is relatively large, one or two pairs of lateral fins, corona ciliata is on the neck and is wider than long. Benthic or benthoplanktonic.

Originally, all members were placed under the genus Spadella, however Salvini-Plawen (1986) proposed two new genera (Paraspadella and Bathyspadella) and Casanova (1996) added Hemispadella.
