Introduction

In the classification of Schatz et al. (2011), the family Rhynchoribatidae includes two genera and 29 species world-wide. Most species occur in Africa and South America, with scattered records from southern Asia (Subias 2004, 2011). The Australian fauna is very poorly known, with only an isolated record of an unidentified species, originally reported from soil in New South Wales by Osler (1997), and reviewed by Hunt et al. (1998) and Colloff & Halliday (1998). The chelicerae of Rhynchoribatidae are elongate and edentate, suggesting that they are probably predatory.
