Species Inquirenda
- Ptilonorhynchus rawnsleyi Diggles, S. 1867. The Ornithology of Australia. Brisbane : S. Diggles Part 15. [Pt 15] [judged by its illustration, the holotype (adult male) was either an aberrantly plumaged specimen of Ptilonorhynchus violaceus (Vieillot, 1816) or a hybrid between that species and Sericulus chrysocephalus (Lewin, 1808) — holotype apparently lost (G.C. Ingram, Mem. Qd Mus 25 (1987: 249)].
