Subspecies Gerygone olivacea olivacea (Gould, 1838)
- Psilopus olivaceus Gould, J. 1838. A Synopsis of the Birds of Australia, and the Adjacent Islands. London : J. Gould 8 pp., 73 pls. [Pt 3, published Apr. 1838, publication dated as 1837–1838] [pl. 61] [published 1 April 1838; Christidis & Boles (2008) argued that this name be treated as junior to simultaneously published Psilopus albogularis Gould, 1838, and it was treated thus by Gould, Handbook to the Birds of Australia 2(1865)266 in accord with ICdZN Art. 24.2 — nevertheless, olivaceus Gould often was treated as a nomen protectum under ICdZN Art. 23.9, having been used as senior in almost all major references since 1899; it was accorded priority in ICZN (2009) Opinion 2240].
