Leptotes plinius plinius (Fabricius, 1793)

Hesperia plinius Fabricius, J.C. 1793. Entomologia Systematica Emendata et Aucta secundum classes, ordines, genera, species, adjectis synonimis [sic], locis, observationibus, descriptionibus. Hafniae : Impensis C. G. Proft, Fil et Soc. [butterfly section] Vol. 3(1) iv 488 pp. [284].
Type data: syntypes whereabouts unknown *; Fabricius in the original description did not indicate the number of specimens described; Zimsen, E. 1964. The Type Material of I.C. Fabricius. Copenhagen : Munksgaard 656 pp. [562] (listed a specimen in Kiel but the species was described from the Drury collection and the Kiel specimen is unlikely to have come from the Drury collection); Parsons, M.J. 1998. The Butterflies of Papua New Guinea; their systematics and biology. San Diego : Academic Press 736 pp. [463] (referred unjustifiably to a holotype).
Type locality: India (Indiis given in original description).
