Species Telmatoscopus townsvillensis (Taylor, 1915)
- Pericoma townsvillensis Taylor, F.H. 1915. A blood-sucking species of Pericoma in Queensland (Dipt.). Bulletin of Entomological Research 6: 267 [267].
Type data:
Holotype ANIC ♀ adult (not found), Townsville, QLD.
Paratype(s) ANIC ♀ adult (not found); BMNH ♀ adult (Taylor lists only 'Type and one other specimen' and Tonnoir, anomalously, only one paratype ♀ and some 'Other specimens' collected after Taylor's paper was published. Thus, it seems that there were never any paratypes and that the holotype may have been lost before the collection was transferred to the ANIC, Duckhouse, D.A., pers. comm.).
