- Schockaert, E.R., Curini-Galletti, M., De Ridder, W., Volonterio, O. & Artois, T. 2009. A new family of lithophoran Proseriata (Platyhelminthes), with the description of seven new species from the Indo-Pacific and South America, and the proposal of three new genera. Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society 155: 759-773
Introduction
Lithophoran proseriates tend to be interstitial, sediment-dwelling turbellarians found in intertidal regions. Schockaert et al. (2009) discussed the composition of the group, based on molecular and morphological data. These authors recognised the Archimonocelididae Meixner, 1938, Calviriidae Martens & Curini-Galletti, 1993 and Meidiamidae Schockaert, Curini-Galletti, de Ridder, Volonterio & Artois, 2009 within the Lithophora. They were unable to reach further taxonomic certainty about the remainder of the groups classified within Lithophora due to a lack of resolution in current molecular phylogenies.

Paratype(s) QM G211734-6 (off South Reef, 16 m (depth), mixed sediment, x.1993, serial sections), Heron Island, Capricorn Bunker Group, southern Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia. [23°27'S 151°55'E].
Introduction
The description of A. medusa was the first record of polypharyngy in a turbellarian outside of the triclads (Curini-Galletti & Cannon, 1997). Although the title of the paper in which this species is described includes it within the Archimonocelididae Meixner, 1938, the authors have presented the species description (p. 487) under the family group name "Archimonocelidae Meixner, 1938" - it is presumed this a typographical error.
