  • Meliphaga melanops gippslandica Wakefield, N.A. 1958. The Yellow-tufted Honeyeater with a description of a new subspecies. The Emu 58: 163-194 [Date published Jul 1958] [177] [intergradient between Lichenostomus melanops melanops (Latham, 1802) and L. m. cassidix (Gould, 1867)].

    Paratype(s) NMV B.6499 adult , Vic: Gould, 0.5 mile below bridge; WAM S&W.1375 adult , NSW: Timbillica; WAM S&W.1376 adult , NSW: Timbillica; AM O.39570 adult (incorrectly given with the prefix R), NSW: Merimbula; AM O.39571 adult (incorrectly given with the prefix R), NSW: Merimbula; NMV B.7041 adult , Vic: Moonderra; NMV B.6280 immature , Vic: Winkle Creek Bridge, north of Briagolong, Gippsland.
