Family MALACONOTHRIDAE Berlese, 1916

Introduction

The family Malaconothridae includes four genera and 157 species world-wide (Schatz et al. 2011). The family is cosmopolitan, and is diverse in tropical Africa, the Neotropical Region, and southeast Asia (Subias 2011). Many species have been collected in wet habitats such as peat bogs, streams, springs, and lakes, but little else is known of their biology (Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009). The Australian fauna was comprehensively revised by Colloff & Cameron (2013).
