Introduction
The Loveniidae are a cosmopolitan spatangoid family including five extant genera, three of which are recorded in Australian waters, represented by six species.
This family is distinguished from others in the order Spatangoida by the following feature: internal fasciole surrounding apical system and parts of anterior ambulacrum. The subanal fasciole and peripetalous fasciole may be present.
