Species Neurothemis stigmatizans (Fabricius, 1775)
- Libellula stigmatizans Fabricius, J.C. 1775. V. Vnogata. pp. 420–426 in, Systema Entomologiae, sistens Insectorum Classes, Ordines, Genera, Species, adiectis Synonymis, Locis, Descriptionibus, Observationibus. Flensburgi et Lipsiae [= Flensburg & Leipzig] : Kortius. [421] [Selys-Longchamps, E. de 1879. Nouvelles observations sur les odonates de la région de la Nouvelle Guinée. Annali del Museo Civico di Storia Naturale Genova 14: 287–324 placed stigmatizans as junior synonym of oculata; Ris, F. 1911. Libellulinen 4. Fasc. XII pp. 385–528 1 pl. in, Collections Zoologiques du Baron Edm. de Selys Longchamps. Brussels : Institut royal des Sciences naturelles de Belgique. [578] and Campion, H. 1917. On Fabricius's types of Odonata in the British Museum (Natural History). Annals and Magazine of Natural History 8 19: 441–450 gave precedence to stigmatizans on the basis of page priority but Selys stands as first reviser which gives oculata priority. However, as stigmatizans has been in universal use since Ris, the reinstatement of oculata would threaten stability and, pending application to the Commission, we here retain stigmatizans].
