Eudocima Billberg was given priority by Nye (1975) as first reviser. There is general uncertainty and disagreement in the literature with regard to the treatment and status of the generic names of these important fruit-piercing moths. Views may be found in Sugi (1982) and Binziger (1982). Poole (1989) treats many of the generic names as synonyms. Few of the species involved, as type-species of the genera, occur in Australia and an adequate assessment of this problem is beyond the scope of this Checklist. Poole (1989) is followed here as the latest comprehensive list)
