Family KERGUELENIIDAE Lowry & Stoddart, 2010

Introduction

The Kergueleniidae is a small family of two genera and 26 species distributed mainly in antitropical seas worldwide from depths of 10 m to 5041 m. Lowry & Stoddart (2010) recently reported nine species of Clepidecrella and Kerguelenia from Australian waters. The mouthparts of kergueleniids are so reduced that it is currently not possible to determine their relationship to other lysianassoid family-level groups. There is nothing know about the biology of kergueleniids.
