Introduction

Hoplopleuridae Ewing, 1929 is a diverse family that chiefly infests rodents. In Australia 12 species from a single genus, Hoplopleura, containing over 130 species worldwide, parasitise native and introduced rodents. Undoubtedly many species remain to be described from native rodents.
