Superfamily HIPPOBOSCOIDEA Samouelle, 1819
Introduction
Molecular analyses by Petersen et al. (2007) show that Nycteribiidae and Hippoboscidae are monophyletic units, while Streblidae are paraphyletic. In their wider analysis of the Calyptratae, Kutty et al. (2010) suggest the inclusion of Nycteribiidae and Streblidae in Hippoboscidae.
