Extra Distribution Information
Vernon Islands, NT, Torres Strait, Qld. Includes Darwin record of Amorphinopsis sacciformis sensu (Hooper et al. 1997: 27 (not Ciocalypta sacciformis Thiele, 1900). Widespread in coral reefs of the Indo-west Pacific — Gulf of Manaar, Sri Lanka; Bay of Bengal, India; Andaman Sea, Burma; South China Sea, Vietnam; Sulu Sea, Philippines; Gaspar Strait, Java Sea, Banda Sea and Arafura Sea, Indonesia. The species was recorded originally from the Mergui Archipelago (Andaman province). Records from Singapore and northern Australia extend the distribution of the species to the Sunda and Sahul Shelf provinces. The northern Australian and Singaporean populations seem to be common at the intertidal region associated with piers and wharfs. The species is found also subtidally between 9 and 16 m (Alvarez & Hooper 2011).
