   Pseudomys australis Gray, 1832 by monotypy.

  Type species:

   Mus novaehollandiae Waterhouse, 1843 (=Pseudomys (Gyomys) novaehollandiae (Waterhouse, 1843)) by original designation.

Introduction

Roycroft et al. (2024) reviewed the Delicate Mouse group - P. bolami, P. delicatulus, P. hermmansburgensis & P. novaehollandiae. They recognised three divergent lineages within P. delicatulus, a northern lineage for which they retained P. delicatulus, an eastern lineage for which they resurrected Pseudomys (Leggadina) delicatulus mimulus Thomas, 1926 (applied at species level), and a western lineage they described as a new species P. pilbarensis. They also revised distributions for all species in the group.
