Family EURYPAUROPODIDAE Ryder
Introduction
Eurypauropodids move slowly and may have the ability to retract the body into a coil.
The family contains four genera, only one of which, Samarangopus, has been recorded from Australia.
Diagnosis
The body is oval, robust and dorsoventrally flattened, with six undivided tergites which are usually light brown. Legs are short and not dorsally visible during movement. The head is small and ventral to the first tergite, the pygidium is ventral to the distal tergite, and cuticle of tergites coarse, ornamented and provided with tubercles, spiney and leaf shaped setae.
