Introduction
The family Elpidiidae is cosmopolitan with ten known genera. Four genera and five species occur in Australia.
This family is distinguished from other holothurian families in the order Elasipodida by the following combination of character states: 10-12 tentacles, ventrolateral radii each with a few large, well-developed tube feet; midradial tube feet absent, calcarous ring consisting of five star-shaped pieces.
