Previously known from Madagascar, Réunion, Isle Glorieuse, Seychelles, East Africa, Ivory Coast, Bioko Is., South America, North America, Australia, Hawaii, Bonin Is., Marianas, Kermadecs, Chagos Archipelago, New Zealand, Norfolk Island, Galapagos, Tonga, Society Islands, Indonesia, Bermuda, Jamaica, Fiji, Diego Garcìa, Chile, Hong Kong, Germany (introduced, in greenhouse).
