Family CYTHERURIDAE Müller, 1894

Diagnosis

Shell more or less calcified, usually dorsoventrally flattened and with caudal process. Fused zone usually relatively broad. Marginal pore canals simple, rarely branching, sparse. Normal pores simple. Right valve higher than left one. Antennula 5-, 6-segmented. Antenna with 2 terminal claws. Respiratory plate of mandibula with 1 or 2 rays; maxillular respiratory plate with 2 abnormal rays. In both sexes thoracopods same and symmetrical on both sides of body.
