London : British Museum ix 320 pp., whether it is one of the original two from which coxeni was described, however, is not clear].

Introduction

Sometimes treated as a separate species (del Hoyo & Collar 2014), retained here as a subspecies until more work can be conducted to elucidate relationships between subspecies.

Coastal border region of NSW-QLD, originally north to Gympie-Maryborough districts, QLD, south to Macleay River, NSW, and inland to coastal spurs of Great Dividing Range. Now very rare and widely extinct.

Ecological Descriptors

Arboreal, closed forest, diurnal, frugivorous, granivore, gregarious, nomadic, volant.

Extra Ecological Information

Seasonal breeder(?), in lower altitude rainforests, feeds arboreally mainly on figs, flies swiftly and directly through and over forest canopy, nests on wood dust debris in small tree holes, incubation by female, the female rears the whitish-downed, flesh-billed chick assisted by male, wanders locally or regionally to seasonal food sources.
