Family BATHYTROPIDAE Vandel, 1952

Introduction

The family may be synonymous with Platyarthridae, but this possibility has not been fully explored (Ferrara & Taiti 1989).

 

Diagnosis

Animals do not conglobate. Body outline not interrupted between pereon and pleon. Flagellum of antenna 2 usually with 2 articles (3 in Monitus). Dorsal surface relatively plain, without prominent large scales like those in Platyarthridae. Without pleopodal lungs.
