Introduction

According to Niedbała (1992), Austrophthiracarus radiatus Balogh & Mahunka sensu Balogh & Balogh (1983) is misidentified, and is not the same species as Austrophthiracarus radiatus Balogh & Mahunka, 1978. The status of Austrophthiracarus radiatus Balogh & Mahunka sensu Balogh & Balogh (1983) remains unresolved. Liu & Zhang (2016) suggested that specimens from Victoria identified as A. radiatus may actually belong to A. glennieensis.
